i love capturing things at their own eye level, from the ground, in this case from the top of the sea, the camera just off the water, angling up, looking at it as if with a periscope in a war film. i did get in trouble with this on occasion, as waves are fairly unpredictable in their intensity and suddeness, sometimes kissing the lens. i ended up destroying a beautiful 300mm lens - you can see the marks in some photos - and for a while had to manually hold the lens tight with the body of the camera because the electric sensors had given up on me and the lens would not lock. ... luckily i found another one, not in perfect shape but acceptable, in a backstreet camera shop in recife... :). all the photos on this blog were taken with a 1971 Canon F1 which i bought from a used camera shop in Boston, US. beautiful camera. i still have, though i am now on the market for a good digital slr. i know..., but its just so much more freeing to be able to just focus on getting the essence of the eye-heart moment.
